कुछ लोग केवल अपना व्यवसाय नहीं बनाते, बल्कि एक परंपरा, एक विरासत और एक विश्वास की नींव रखते हैं। स्वर्गीय श्री मोती लाल सोनी ऐसे ही व्यक्तित्व थे, जिनकी मेहनत, ईमानदारी और कारीगरी ने एक साधारण शुरुआत को एक प्रतिष्ठित नाम में बदल दिया — JMD JEWELLERS।
स्वर्गीय श्री मोती लाल सोनी का जन्म सन 1895 में कन्नौज (गया) में हुआ था। वे बचपन से ही परिश्रमी, अनुशासित और काम के प्रति समर्पित स्वभाव के थे। उनकी पत्नी श्रीमती राधा देवी ने हर मोड़ पर उनका साथ दिया और परिवार को मजबूत आधार प्रदान किया।
उनका पेशा था स्वर्णकार (Goldsmith) — और यह केवल काम नहीं, बल्कि उनके लिए एक कला, साधना और गर्व का विषय था।
सन 1910 में, बेहतर भविष्य की तलाश में वे जमशेदपुर आए। उस समय संसाधन सीमित थे, लेकिन हौसले असीम। उन्होंने पूरी निष्ठा और ईमानदारी के साथ स्वर्णकार का कार्य शुरू किया।
धीरे-धीरे उनकी कारीगरी, शुद्धता और भरोसेमंद काम की पहचान बनने लगी। लोग दूर-दूर से उनके बनाए आभूषणों की सराहना करने लगे।
सन 1917 में उन्होंने सोने की पॉलिश और आभूषण निर्माण कार्य को एक संगठित और व्यवस्थित रूप दिया। गुणवत्ता, शुद्धता और कारीगरी में उन्होंने कभी समझौता नहीं किया। यही कारण था कि उनका नाम धीरे-धीरे भरोसे का पर्याय बन गया।
कई वर्षों की मेहनत और तपस्या के बाद, सन 1921 में उन्होंने जमशेदपुर में अपने सपनों का शोरूम स्थापित किया — JMD JEWELLERS। यह शोरूम केवल एक दुकान नहीं था, बल्कि विश्वास, परंपरा और उत्कृष्ट कारीगरी का प्रतीक बन गया। यहाँ से ग्राहकों को सिर्फ आभूषण नहीं, बल्कि संतोष और भरोसा मिलता था।
समय के साथ इस प्रतिष्ठान की जिम्मेदारी उनके सुपुत्र श्री मदन लाल सोनी ने संभाली और उसे नई ऊँचाइयों तक पहुँचाया। इसके बाद यह परंपरा उनके पौत्र श्री सुभाष बर्मन ने आगे बढ़ाई। आज भी, ईश्वर की कृपा से, यह प्रतिष्ठान उसी ईमानदारी, गुणवत्ता और विश्वास के साथ निरंतर सफलतापूर्वक संचालित हो रहा है।
